Academic integrity
Academic integrity is a set of ethical principles and rules defined by law, which should guide the participants of the educational process during training, teaching and conducting scientific (creative) activities in order to ensure confidence in learning outcomes and/or scientific (creative) achievements.
A violation of academic integrity is:
- academic plagiarism - publication (partially or completely) of scientific (creative) results obtained by other persons as the results of own research (creativity) and / or reproduction of published texts (published works of art) by other authors without attribution;
- self-plagiarism - publication (in part or in full) of one's own previously published scientific results as new scientific results;
- fabrication - inventing data or facts used in the educational process or research;
- falsification - deliberately altering or modifying existing data relating to the educational process or research;
- copying - performing written work involving external sources of information, other than those permitted for use, in particular when evaluating learning outcomes;
- deception - providing knowingly false information about one's own educational (scientific, creative) activity or organization of the educational process; forms of deception include academic plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification and write-offs;
- bribery - the provision (receipt) of a participant in the educational process or a proposal to provide (receive) funds, property, services, benefits or any other benefits of a tangible or intangible nature in order to obtain an illegal advantage in education process;
- biased assessment - deliberate overestimation or underestimation of students' learning outcomes.
Scientific and pedagogical, scientific and pedagogical staff of higher education institutions are obliged to adhere to the educational process and scientific (creative) activities of academic integrity and ensure its observance by applicants for higher education.
For their part, persons studying in higher education institutions are obliged to fulfill the requirements of the educational (scientific) program (individual curriculum) (if any), adhering to academic integrity, and to achieve the learning outcomes determined for the appropriate level of higher education.
