December 10 - Human Rights Day

December 10 marks Human Rights Day.

Eduard Abashiia, a lecturer at the Psychology Department of the Dnipro Institute of PJSC HEI "MAUP", a legal expert and psychologist at the Amur-Nyzhnyodniprovskyi District Office of the State Institution "Probation Center" in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, provides the following information. December 10 marks Human Rights Day, which coincides with the 76th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948.

Human rights are inalienable freedoms and opportunities that belong to all people, regardless of their race, gender, nationality, language, religion, ethnic origin, or any other conditions.

Civil liberties and civic education are vitally important today, and one way to prevent repeating the mistakes of our past is to educate students and the population, strengthen common standards in the areas of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

We still have much to do, but the first step is to better understand each other and our past, so that we can work together towards a better future.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights embodies the power of ideas capable of changing the world. It inspires us to continue working so that all people strive for and can attain freedom, equality, and dignity.
