Department of Law
General Provisions
Mission of the Department: The Department of Law is dedicated to training highly qualified specialists in the field of jurisprudence who are capable of influencing the social and legal aspects of societal development.
Objectives of the Department: The Department aims to provide students with legal knowledge, develop their analytical and critical thinking skills, and foster ethical principles related to legal practice. The Department ensures high-quality education based on up-to-date knowledge, modern teaching methods, and practical assignments to form the professional skills of future lawyers. The Department is actively engaged in scientific work, promoting the development of legal research, publication of articles and monographs, and participation in scientific conferences and seminars.
The Department collaborates with legal authorities, NGOs, and business partners for the practical application of acquired knowledge and to prepare students for professional careers. We promote student personality development, critical thinking, ethical standards, and teamwork skills. The Department organizes guest lectures, seminars, and conferences to popularize legal knowledge. We constantly implement innovative approaches to learning and research, using modern technologies to meet the challenges of the contemporary legal environment.
Methodological Work
To implement legal education, the Department's faculty has prepared educational and methodological complexes, including syllabuses and work programs, which include lecture plans, independent study plans, seminar plans, practical assignments, and business games.
Methodological guidelines for practical classes and independent student work have been developed for all disciplines taught according to the curricula.
Educational, industrial, and undergraduate internships serve as a means of consolidating theoretical knowledge. Students of the Dnipro Institute of IAPM undergo these internships in judicial and justice bodies of Dnipro and the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as in legal departments of various institutions under the guidance of highly qualified specialists.
Furthermore, the Law Clinic operates based on the Regulations of the Law Clinic and the Ethical Code of the Law Clinic. Consultations at the clinic are provided by master's students under the supervision of the Department's faculty.
Scientific Research Work
In accordance with the Concept of Legal Education, student and youth Olympiads in jurisprudence are held every semester. The commissions consistently note the high level of knowledge among students and graduating high school students who later become applicants to our Institute.
The Department annually holds regional and international scientific-practical conferences addressing legal regulation issues. Student research competitions help develop skills in analytical development and scientific projects.
Under the scientific supervision of our faculty, graduating students conduct research in commercial and labor law, identifying issues and proposing solutions. These studies are presented in graduation theses, the successful defense of which demonstrates the high quality of legal education at the Institute.
Every class includes a "15-minute information briefing" where students, with the help of the instructor, analyze draft legislation and recent amendments to Ukrainian law. This helps them stay updated on the mobile process of lawmaking and correctly apply it to practical tasks.
In 2013, as part of the Department's development concept, a specialized courtroom-classroom and a forensic research laboratory were opened. The student scientific circle "Scientific Society" meets systematically to discuss topical problems in Ukrainian and international law.
Educational and character-building work is conducted according to the plan. Faculty members emphasize behavioral culture and moral qualities through personal example. The Department also addresses spiritual education, studying the roots of jurisprudence and its historical connection with moral principles and religious foundations.
